This week in year 2

We have had another busy week in year 2!

In English, we have been continuing to read Meerkat Mail. We have used the story to help us learn how to use apostrophes in our writing. Can you remember when we use them? There are two ways!

In Maths, we have been learning how to add two 2 digit numbers. Can you remember how to show our working out?

In topic, we have been continuing to learn about the family that opened Chester Zoo. We now know their names and the jobs that they did around the zoo.

We are concentrating on improving our handwriting in year two. Any extra practise at home would be very helpful!

Residential fun!

We've had a fantastic day on our residential and have just been enjoying playing pass the parcel for the birthday boy! We've had a lovely hot tea and are looking forward to a nice early night!

What we have been learning this week!

This week we read the book 'ABC UK' and then we wrote our own  'ABC EP' books all about Ellesmere Port.

A very special 'Wedding!'

In year 2 we have been learning about the Christian church. Today we found out about weddings and then role played our own. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and were able to identify the symbols and people that are usually associated with a wedding.

What we have been learning this week!

We have been learning how to add on using a blank number line in maths.

We have planned our version of a beastie story. We can't wait to write them!

We voted for our favourite book by Claire Freedman. This was our favourite because we really liked the Snortle character!

Spring break homework

Well done to all of the year two children who did some research about toys from the past!
